Finally we had our baby Lucas!

Melissa wanted me to post these pictures, and say a little sometin'.... So here is the story of how Lucas was born....In a place far far away and in a magical hospital, is where our story takes place. just kiddin. But really it all started Friday morning, L&D was supposed to call us around 6 in the morning to tell us when to come in and start the induction. Well 10 am came around and still no phone call, so we decided to take the initative and call them instead and they told us to be patient and that 3 other spontaneous births had come in unexpectedly and for us to call them back at noon! (That sucked royally!) The next thing we know, they called back 10 minutes later and said that if we could be here in 30 minutes then they could "fit" us in and begin inducing Melissa. So of course we grab all of our stuff and rush out the door and made it there on time. Everything seemed to be on its way and all the ducks were in a row....we thought! So after L&D had Melissa's IV started and her pitocin running is was about 1200. The Dr. came in about 2ish to break her water to hopefully get things started a little faster. Now, when entered the hospital Melissa was dilated to a 3+ and 90% effaced (well as a matter of fact, she was a 3+ and 90% the wednesday before). So at 2 when the Dr. checked to see if she had progressed at all...and no luck, still the same. So they bumped up the amount of pitocin running at first 4mcg/min then 8, then 12, 16 and finally 2o (which is the max they give because it can be dangerous because anything about 20 can cause the uterus to go into a state of constant contraction....which is bad.... She finally got her epidural at 4 and she was still having what you call "wimpy" contractions.

Around 6 the doc came in again and checked and found that she was at a 3+ and 90% still! so he said to bump up the pitocin to 24mcg/min and said that he would remain in house to monitor. A few hours later, still no progression so the bumped the pitocin again to 28! and at 4 on saturday morning they checked again and found the she went from a 3+ to a 4 in 16 hours! Shortly there after (430 am) the doc came in again and said its looking like the best thing would be to have a C-Section, and to have a birthday finally. By that time Melis was so tired and worn out, that we decided that it would be the best option. Next thing we know we signed the consent rushed in, i got all dressed up and watched the section and we had a baby 10 minutes later and Little Lucas was born at 0440 weighing 8 lbs. 4 oz. and 19 in long. But all in all, with all the drama and exhaustion surrounding him.. LUCAS WAS WORTH THE WAIT!

We love the little guy so much and he is such a good baby! He is always so content all the time, just joy to have around! We love him so much!

CongratulationS!!!! I hope that isn't how his life is going to be! A big drama! Some advise... don't let anyone tell you that you can hold your baby too much... seriously, you can't hold them enough! Don't let the time pass because you don't ever get it back! Let the dishes go to teach him something, let the laundry pile up, moments are precious with the little ones!

Congratulations! I am so happy he decided he finally wanted to come into the world! Sorry you had to go through such a rough delivery. We had similar trama in the delivery room. Just don't try to do to much when recovering from a c-section, you have to remember it is a major surgery. I did to much to soon and was quick to regret it. I am so excited for you guys! Lucas is amazing!
